Ou peut-on être heureuse?
Where do you find such happiness?
Down by the burn on a Scottish moor?
Under a fir tree?
Whisky?
Where, Oh where?
Under a pebble on the beach?
Watching the seagulls over the cliffs?
The passing steamers?
Reefers?
Where, Oh where?
Do you find it there,
Over the sea in foreign lands?
Beneath the snow-clad mountain top?
Ski slopes?
Beer?
Is it there?
Then where?
Happiness is where you wish.
Here with you,
Bread and wine to sweeten the lips,
A kiss,
Thou,
This is happiness.
